The Goddard Covered Bridge
Grange City Covered Bridge is located on Highway 111 about three miles south of Hillsboro. Grange City Covered Bridge has a multi-kingpost truss design. The covered bridge was built very soon after the end of The Civil War ( about 1865). The Grange City Covered Bridge spans Fox Creek in Fleming County and is a single span bridge. Grange City Covered Bridge was bypassed about 1969 with a concrete bridge nearby.
Ringos Mill Covered Bridge
The Ringos Mill Covered Bridge spans Fox Creek in a single span. This covered bridge was built about 1867. The map from 1862 shows a road and water crossing at Fox Creek at that time period. The indications are that this covered bridge or the Grange City Covered was there at that time period. This would suggest that a prior covered bridge existed before one of these two covered bridges.
Ringos Mill Covered Bridge is eighty five feet long and built very closely to to the design of the Grange City Covered Bridge. These two covered bridges were probably built by the same bridge builder. Ringos Mill Covered Bridge once led to Ringos Mill that once ground corn and grain for the area. Below is a map showing the water crossing in 1862;
